Our 2 civic services have accepted to go back over their experience within our association. It's Mélina's turn to answer our questions.
A lifelong Auvergne resident, Mélina moved to Clermont-Ferrand for her studies 5 years ago.
« Prolonging that Erasmus feeling »
During her third year of LEA bachelor, Mélina had the chance to complte an Erasmus semester in Italy, in Udine. It was during this period that she discovered the ESN network - that will allow her to participate in several activities and to meet dedicated volunteers. « I made the most of my Erasmus experience » she confides.
On her return to Clermont-Ferrand, she discovers that there is an ESN section that is actively seeking for 2 civic services. Being a big lost at university level, it was an opportunity for her to take a break from her studies and « to prolong this Erasmus feeling.»
Fulfilment
Both professionally and personally, her experience at Worldtop ESN has been very beneficial. Indeed, It has given her the opportunity to meet people from all over the world, to share many moments and to practice English every day. Professionally speaking, Mélina was able to discover the huge fields of communication and events ; fields that were previously unknown to her. « Today, I can create posters, content for social networks, promote events, animate events, and present projects. I have learned to master digital tools that I didn't know. »
She is now more dynamic, more willing and more comfortable speaking in public, personal qualities that will be usefull in her professional future.
A civic service at WorldTop ESN is a collection of unforgettable memories. But if Melina had to choose just one, it would be Welcome Week, a busy week with one event a day, enough to keep you busy. This week has allowed her to make many new friends. « That's when I felt like a full member of the association, Wordltop ESN had become my baby. » she says.
Mélina will still be part of the association at the beginning of next school year, as President. But, she will obviously miss her colleague Myrto the most. They have become very good friends through their time together. « Luckily she is staying in France and I am sure to see her again! »
To the attention of future civic services
« Civic service is a unique experience since we can only do one in our lifetime, so we must choose it well and do it in a domain that we are very passionate about. It's a very enriching experience and we must live it to the fullest and take advantage of all the opportunities it offers, whether it be workshops or networking with our many partners and volunteers. »
