Our 2 civic services have agreed to review their experience within our association. The first one to play the game was Myrto.
Originally for Greece, Myrto has been packing her suitcases in Clermont-Ferrand for 3 years.
From Athens to Clermont-Ferrand
After a bachelor in Philosophy-Pedogogy- Psychology at Athens University, then in 2017 Myrto decided to do her Master's Degree in Educational Sciences - Educational Needs at the ESPE of University Clermont Auvergne. She also spent a Erasmus semester in the city of Nijmegen in the Netherlands.
Myrto has always had a huge passion for foreign languages, she even speaks 4 languages, Greek being her mother tongue, as well as French, Spanish or English. This interest for foreign languages and her attraction for international and intercultural encounters played a big role in her decision of civic service. Even though there was no link with her previous studies, she hasn't regretted her choice and she is determined to continue on this path. « Now, I can safely say that I have enjoyed my tasks so much that I am currently looking for a job in this field. » she says
An enriching experience
His civic service experience was rewarding in many ways. Both at the professional level with the acquisition of new skills. « I learned how to organize fun, cultural, social events, create posters, promote events, master social networks for professional use, manage a team, speak in front of an audience, be creative ».
On a personal level, Myrto was able to meet many people from all over the world and discover so many cultures.
This experience was so enriching, Myrto was not able to give us a single better memory. For her, her civic service brought her many good memories like the Fall Gala, the Participatory Karaoke or the Valentine's Day Language Cafe.
After her departure, She will miss many things, especially all the people she worked with ; the team of volunteers, her colleague Mélina and the office team. But also the events organised, the promises at the CIED (Information Center Europe Direct) or even the work within the association ; « it was a serious and rigorous work but very entertaining at the same time.»
For the attention of future civic services
« If you like interculturality, contact with international students, organisation and participation in events of different styles, speaking foreign languages and working in teams, then the Civic Service mission at WorldTop ESN is for you. Don't hesitate to apply for this Civic Service, because it's a golden opportunity that will offer you a lot of good things. » conclude Myrto.
